We are seeking a highly organised and proactive receptionist to join our team in a role essential to the effective operation of the school. The successful candidate must present a calm and professional manner, have a flexible approach, and be able to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills and strong MS Office knowledge are essential.


Key responsibilities include

  • Operating the school reception as the first point of contact.
  • Managing phone calls, emails, and messages.
  • Welcoming visitors and ensuring proper sign-in procedures.
  • Providing administrative assistance using MS Office.
  • Managing attendance records and following up on pupil absences.
  • Liaising with staff regarding school communications and events.
  • Supporting safeguarding, equality, and confidentiality policies.
  • Participating in school events such as open days and term mailings.
  • Maintaining a positive and professional school front-of-house experience.


Reporting

Reports to the Office Manager or Senior Leadership as required.


Person Specifications

Essential

  • Previous school experience is a must.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs (Grade C or above or equivalent).
  • Strong computer skills and MS Office proficiency.
  • Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Awareness of safeguarding children issues.


Desirable:

  • Experience in managing school attendance systems and administrative databases.


Hours and Benefits

  • Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:30pm.
